In 2024, it undertook a major renovation of its facilities, once again trusting EWK to optimize its cooling system.<\/p>\n<h3>The Solution<\/h3>\n<p>In the first phase of the project, 8 EWK cooling towers were installed. For the second phase of the renovation, the airport acquired 20 closed-circuit EWK-I cooling towers, each equipped with an external plate heat exchanger.<\/p>\n<p>Each tower features an autonomous control panel connected to strategically placed sensors to monitor performance in real time. This system enables early detection of potential failures, ensuring a rapid response to protect essential cooling systems.<\/p>\n<h3>Results and Benefits<\/h3>\n<p>\u2705 <strong>Maximum durability:<\/strong> Thanks to their fiberglass-reinforced polyester structure, the towers offer enhanced resistance to corrosion.<\/p>\n<p>\u2705 <strong>Health protection:<\/strong> The casing and droplet separators are made from anti-legionella material, minimizing the risk of bacterial proliferation in an environment that receives millions of passengers annually.<\/p>\n<p>\u2705 <strong>Ease of maintenance:<\/strong> Designed for efficient access, they include entry doors, ladders, and walkways to facilitate maintenance tasks.<\/p>\n<p>\u2705 <strong>Improved energy efficiency:<\/strong> Equipped with advanced devices in the fan and other key components, they optimize the system\u2019s energy consumption.<\/p>\n<p>The 20 towers were delivered in five shipments of four units each, with installation completed between November 2024 and July 2025.<\/p>\n<p>At EWK, we remain committed to innovation and quality, providing advanced cooling solutions for large-scale projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Location: Barcelona, Spain Installed Solution: EWK-I cooling towers with external plate heat exchanger The Challenge Since its inauguration in 1916, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport has been a benchmark in Europe, repeatedly recognized as one of the continent\u2019s best airports.
